I am so happy to finally see Jim Vogel I have been interested in his work for a long time. Unfortunately for me the pieces that I have loved have been sold. I have owned a gallery in California for 22 years but am originally from New Mexico and can see that he really zeros in on the feeling of New Mexico life. I didn't realize he was so young. Incredible painter! Thanks for the blog. Lilly Vigil

This blog is an unexpected pleasure and rich opportunity to get to know the exceptional artists of New Mexico, our adopted home and dream come true. Art and history are the foundations of this remarkable celebration of life that we now call home . . . and we are grateful for the rich blessings that the Blue Rain Gallery provides.

Ms. York, thank you for your sumptous contribution to our world.

As I sat and watched this video of Tammy and Star Liana York I could just imagine how much Wally would have loved this piece of art.
Thank you for keeping me on your e-mail list, Tammy.

I am drawn not only to Mr. Vogel's working people, but also to his ability to interpret landscape. It's real without being a postcard, and interpretive with the emotion of a real presence.

Wow!
I love your work! The horses and bears are my very favorites! I am a teacher in West Virginia. I visited Blue Rain Gallery when my family and I took a vacation out West last August. I fell in love with some of the art work being displayed in the Blue Rain Gallery.
I hope I can see your work "up close and personal"
the next time I visit Santa Fe!
God has richly blessed you with your creative gift.
I will pray that He continues to bless you.
You are blessing us with your fabulous talent.
      Thank you so much-
       Kris Hinrichs :)

Hello,
I so love your work and find the suggestive qualities are very intriguing. Creating art
from an inner source and dialogue is very exciting for the viewer and especially the
artist.

Hi to everyone at Blue Rain

The video blog is a neat idea; I hope to see more of them.

A short request: please make them compatible with Firefox. Currently it plays the sound but there is no video. Explorer works, but that's the browser of last resort.

Thanks.

Wow, Leroy. That was cool. That was a real good piece, very emotional and super beautiful - it was good to see them in their studios like that. The blogs are cool, it really makes one feel a part of it.

Hope your well, and hello to Tammy and your family.

Leroy,

I have followed your gallery for years, since my first trip West. I still have many of the gallery's beautifully printed announcements of events and new work.

You are to be commended for embracing technology in ways that bring your artists' delightful work to those of us who are miles away and unable to visit in person.

I look forward to the many possible seeing and listening moments that I now will be able to share with your artists via your video blog.

Congratulations on Blue Rain's 15th Anniversary!

I wish I could be in Santa Fe to see Kevin Short's show. Last week, I saw a
small exhibit of his work in San Juan Capistrano. It is everything you describe.
I was really taken back by the intensity and thick paint. Hopefully I will
have the opportunity to see more of his work.

I agree with your assessment that people should buy art that brings joy to your lives. If you look at a piece hanging on your wall, and it makes you smile, you've made a great investment, regardless of how the piece would be judged by 'sophisticated collectors'.

As an artist, I've found that the works people love the most are those that remind them of something special in their life. These are the pieces people love to buy, and they will always remember why they bought them.

Dear Tammy, Leroy and the Staff at Blue Rain Gallery,

Now that the dust has settled, we would like to recognize what a great honor it was to host the patina demonstration at your gallery during Indian Market, 2006. It was a pleasure to get to know some of the collectors and share with them our enthusiasm in achieving the highest level of quality we are capable of attaining in the art market today.

I do wish that galleries and museums would stop assuming that everyone who buys art is a "collector." Many occasional buyers of art (my wife and I included) buy what we see thatt we like and can afford at the time. To buy is not necessarily to "collect."

Thanks for the "4 points" on buying. Now...how about elaborating a bit on each. That would be great. For instance, What is the significance of the number of pieces the artist produces each year? What does one look for to see if a piece is well made? What do you mean by "pricing integrity"?

Thanks for the good blog.
