Southeastern Mvskoke beadwork has been the main jumping off point for much of my work. The main motif in this piece was seen on a pre-removal bandolier bag dating from the early 1800's. Upon further investigation of the design I discovered great similarities with the Greek Prometheus symbol that signified the gift of fire to mankind. In Mvskoke Culture fire itself is a centrifugal element to ceremonial life and community. Respect, protection, and balance are essential to maintain what this Gift has to offer. A true blessing from the Creator.
