Waterbird (14) may represent a couple of things depending upon the viewer…I like the viewer to have a choice. (1) The renewal and resurrection of the spirit as the Phoenix bird is represented in Greek mythology and other cultures. (2) A peyote bird. Within the center of this piece is the symbol of the peyote button from the Native American Church that also symbolizes renewal and resurrection of native spirituality. Historically used in the Ghost Dance (the Caddo people are ghost dancers) there are only a few “Roadmen” allowed to pick and distribute the Peyote for use in the NAC. We have 2 Caddo men allowed to do such.

If the NAC Peyote info looks like it might bother the buyer just leave it out and stick to the Greek mythology and other cultures. It freaks out some people.
