Acrylic on canvas, 30"h x 24"w, Item No. 20733,

The title is derived from Claude Monet's painting "Parasol." My artwork pays homage to Monet's piece. The Navajo term used refers to an umbrella, translating to "shade maker." The inspiration for this choice stemmed from memories of observing elderly Navajo women carrying umbrellas, a vivid image that stayed with me. In my rendition, an elderly Navajo woman stands on a hill, herding sheep with an umbrella, while a lamb stands nearby. This scene deviates from Monet's original "Parasol" painting, which features a little boy in the same setting.
