Stories Imagined by Preston Singletary and Garth Stein
Written by Garth Stein
In The Good, the Bad and the Raven, bestselling author Garth Stein and internationally acclaimed glass artist Preston Singletary continue their collaboration with a bold new cycle of stories and sculptures that reimagine Raven mythology for the modern age. Blending Indigenous storytelling traditions with speculative fiction, satire, and contemporary anxieties, the exhibition follows Raven through a world of artificial intelligence, social media obsession, fractured truth, environmental collapse, and spiritual disconnection. Along the way, Raven encounters living statues, ghostly ancestors, kushtaka internet tricksters, and Eagle himself—part guide, part foil, part cosmic life coach.
Funny, unsettling, irreverent, and unexpectedly moving,The Good, the Bad and the Raven asks what happens when people surrender their stories, their traditions, and even their voices to the endless noise of the modern world. Pairing Singletary’s luminous glass works with Stein’s lyrical and sharply observant prose, the exhibition becomes both a warning and a celebration: a reminder that stories are living things, meant to evolve, provoke, and reconnect us to one another. And somewhere above it all, Raven is still circling—laughing, scheming, and trying to save humanity from itself.
